Google DeepMind releases AlphaGenome Atlas
AlphaGenome Atlas released — predictions of the effects of all 9 billion possible single-nucleotide variants in the human genome, published as a 1-petabyte dataset. It is 30 times the size of AlphaFold DB and covers molecular-level effects in hundreds of human and mouse cell types and tissues, as well as more than 2,500 DNA sequence motifs. It provides an AVI (AlphaGenome Variant Impact) score that unifies protein-coding and non-coding regions, and is free for academic research via the alphagenome.google/atlas portal, an API and an Antigravity skill (commercial use planned via Google Cloud).
Why it matters
An extension of the AlphaFold DB pattern of precomputing and publishing a model's outputs in full, rather than offering access to the model. The company claims early collaborators found 22% more non-coding genetic associations in population studies.
