Terms of use
The ground rules for using Next Token, kept short and plain.
What this site is
Next Token (next-token.net) is a free educational site run by one person, factnotes. It records how AI got here and publishes five-minute AI lessons for students aged 13–18. It charges nothing and shows Google ads to cover its costs.
Using the text and data
Text and data are under CC BY-NC 4.0: you may copy, adapt and share them for non-commercial purposes if you give credit, like this: “Next Token (next-token.net), factnotes, CC BY-NC 4.0”. For commercial use, please ask first. The original sources a record points to (papers, announcements, articles) belong to their owners.
Made by AI — no guarantee of accuracy
Most of the content is made by AI (Anthropic's Claude) and goes through automated checks before it is published; the owner does not read every item (how it's made). So there may be mistakes, and the content comes with no guarantee of accuracy. Every record links its source — when it matters (homework, a talk, an article), check the source yourself.
Reporting a mistake
If you find a mistake, tell us through the contact form with the topic “Error in a record”. Adding the record number or the page address helps. It will be checked and fixed.
API and MCP for developers
The read-only API and MCP server are open to everyone under the same CC BY-NC 4.0 terms. The server is shared, so please keep to these limits.
- About 120 requests a minute from one client (API requests, MCP messages). Beyond that you get a “please wait” answer (429).
- API searches return up to 50 records at a time; MCP accepts batches of up to 4 messages.
- What you send is used only to answer and is never stored. If you need the whole record, download the dataset instead of calling the API over and over.
No accounts
There is no login and no sign-up. Lesson progress and game results stay in your browser. Please don't put personal details such as your name, contact details or school in the question box or the contact form. Questions may be published after rewording so nothing personal shows; contact messages never are.
Links to other sites
Source links and other sites are the responsibility of those sites. Links can change or disappear.
Privacy
Ad cookies, what stays in your browser and what the server keeps are explained in the privacy policy.
