Quality, time and cost: three measures overturned in two weeks

This is a side-by-side record in which the same three tasks were given to two commercial models with identical instructions, and the outputs, time taken and cost equivalent were published together for each round. In a comparison of the same format two weeks earlier, the side that won on quality had used several times more time and money; this time it is summed up as a reversal, with one side faster and cheaper in all three rounds and also taking quality in two. The second task deserves a closer look: given only ten photos, the model directly operated a professional 3D editing tool through its integration interface to reconstruct an editable model, and the person who made the record says themselves that they don't know how to use that tool. This means that attaching an integration interface to a tool once used only by experts removes the skill requirement itself, so the bottleneck shifts from model performance to whether the tool offers a scripting interface. However, all three tasks are generation from a blank slate, the judging rests only on subjective impressions such as fun and a premium feel, and how the time and costs were calculated is not disclosed either.

Key points

  • Controls variables with identical instructions, identical external tool connections and no outside assets
  • One side was faster and cheaper in all three rounds and also took quality in two
  • Operates a professional 3D tool from ten photos to reconstruct an editable model
  • Judging is all subjective impressions, and how time and cost were calculated is not given

This is a note: my own write-up after reading several sources. It has no source link; events checked against a source are kept as records.
