Mistral AI and Cloudera partner on sovereign AI for regulated industries

Announced a strategic partnership to provide sovereign enterprise AI to regulated industries. Mistral models are integrated into Cloudera's hybrid data platform to run inference in private and public clouds, on premises and even in air-gapped environments, and companies can train dedicated models on their own data inside a controlled environment while keeping ownership of both the data and the resulting models. Cloudera said it handles 30 exabytes of customer-managed data across its platform, and named finance, manufacturing and telecoms as the main targets.

Why it matters

A trend in which the form of contract shifts from "selling a model" to "training a dedicated model on the customer's data", with air-gapped deployment rising to a commercial requirement.
