Researchers release Terminal-Universe

Terminal-Universe released — starting from the observation that the tool-execution histories in existing agent trajectories reveal the structure and content of their environments as they are, it synthesizes terminal environments at scale by replaying file operations to reconstruct partial workspaces and filling in missing files and dependencies. Reports generating 37.3k environments usable as tasks

Why it matters

A strand that, instead of having people build agent training environments, extracts them in reverse from trajectories that have already piled up. In the authors' own reporting, fine-tuning Qwen3.5-27B gave gains of 11.9 points on Terminal-Bench 2.1 (single round) and 13.8 points on EvoCode-Bench v2 MT@4 (multi-round)
