Researchers release LatentStream
LatentStream released — a framework that changes the existing "store, then retrieve" setup in streaming video understanding into "retrieve, then internalize". It organizes visual history into short, medium and long term with a query-agnostic hierarchical streaming memory, widens the receptive field of latent memory tokens to absorb past evidence, and optimizes the memory with hierarchical rewards built from group-wise prediction entropy
Why it matters
A strand that evolves memory instead of putting an entire long video into the context, breaking down RAG's separation of retrieval and generation for time-series input. In the authors' own reporting, it claims the best performance on online and offline video benchmarks, but the abstract gives no specific figures
