Alibaba releases Qwen2
Released Qwen2 — five sizes (0.5B, 1.5B, 7B, 57B-A14B, 72B), trained on 27 additional languages beyond English and Chinese, with up to 128K context for the 7B and 72B Instruct models
Why it matters
Only the 72B kept the original Qianwen License while the other four moved to Apache 2.0, the release where Qwen's licensing began to open up
