xAI releases Grok Voice Transcribe 2.0

Grok Voice Transcribe 2.0 released — xAI claims 2x the accuracy of 1.0 at the same price. Short-utterance WER across 19 languages fell from 20.6% to 6.8%; it led the models tested on telephone audio (customer-support calls); and it ranked #1 for accuracy among 32 streaming models on Artificial Analysis's public leaderboard. Batch transcription costs $0.10 per hour of audio and streaming $0.20, with speaker diarization, timestamps and keywords at no extra cost. It is soon to become the Speech-to-Text API default, 1.0 is to be retired within weeks, and version pinning is available.

Why it matters

With transcription prices down to 10–20 cents an hour, voice enters the range where all of it gets stored, like logs.
