SB 24-205 (Colorado AI Act) signed

SB 24-205 (Colorado AI Act) signed — imposes a duty of reasonable care to prevent algorithmic discrimination on developers and deployers of high-risk AI; obligations originally set to apply from Feb 1, 2026

Why it matters

Widely cited as the first comprehensive state AI law in the US, but its obligations were never enforced: SB 25B-004 (signed Aug 28, 2025) pushed the date to June 30, 2026, and SB 26-189 (signed May 14, 2026) repealed and re-enacted the provisions as automated decision-making technology (ADMT) rules applying from Jan 1, 2027
