How an AI writes
An AI chatbot doesn't write a whole answer at once. It reads the text so far, computes a probability for every piece (token) that could come next, picks a likely one and adds it — then does the same for the next piece, over and over, very fast.
The bars in this game are the probabilities one open model really computed. When it writes, a model doesn't always take the top word: a setting called temperature lets it sometimes pick another one. That's why the same question can get slightly different answers.
This site's name comes from the same idea: like a model choosing its next token, we add the next piece of AI history every week.
