An agent team on a remote terminal that keeps running with the laptop off
Herdr is a remote terminal server far lighter than Orca; it installs easily on anything with a terminal, including a Linux VM, and sessions stay alive even when Ghostty is closed. Put it on Grok Bot's virtual machine and you can keep coding agents running around the clock from just a smartphone, regardless of whether the MacBook is on. Ask Grok Bot to install Codex, Cursor, Hermes, Claude and Grok together with Ghostty and Herdr in one go, and it finishes the installation by itself except for the login steps, and also ports the skills and MCPs used on the MacBook over to the VM. Open a repository on an iPhone and request QA, and roles are distributed automatically and handled in parallel — Grok on UX review, Codex on code testing and Hermes on security checks; Hermes reported 15 issues, including two critical ones, while Codex failed because there was no test host. A finished bot can be shared as a template with personal information removed, which could lead to colleagues sharing know-how; the installation and QA figures are demo values that have not been checked.
Key points
- Herdr is a lightweight remote terminal whose sessions survive closing the terminal and rebooting
- Grok Bot installs five coding agents on the VM by itself and ports over skills and MCPs
- A QA request automatically splits agent roles into UX, code testing and security checks
- Sharing bot templates with personal information removed can spread know-how
